Bismillah Traders: replacing paper registers for installment sales

Bismillah Traders sells goods on monthly installments. Every customer, agreement and payment used to live in paper registers, which made balances hard to check and disputes hard to settle. We built a system that keeps the shop's own paperwork and puts a reliable ledger behind it.

The client

Bismillah Traders is a trading business in Hyderabad, Sindh, that sells goods to customers on monthly installment plans. A sale means an agreement form, a schedule of payments over several months, and a receipt each time the customer pays.

The problem

All of this lived on paper. The agreement was a printed Urdu form, payments went into a register, and a customer's balance meant adding up a column by hand. Receipts were handwritten. When a customer disputed what they had paid, or a page was damaged, there was no second copy. The owner wanted the paperwork to stay exactly as the customers knew it, but with a system behind it that could not lose or miscount a payment.

What we built

The system, feature by feature

01

Installment sales system

Customers, agreements, installments and receipts in one place, printed on the paperwork the shop already uses.

Live
  • Customer records
Name, phone, CNIC, guarantor and a photo taken from the phone camera.
  • Phone photos that just work
iPhone HEIC images are converted on the device before upload, so staff never see an error.
  • Agreements with the shop's Urdu terms
The terms are stored with each agreement at signing time, so later changes never alter an old contract.
  • Running ledger per customer
Every payment, part-payment or late payment is a line; the balance is always the sum of the lines.
  • Receipts for small paper
Installment receipts sized for the shop's A5/A6 printer, with the shop header on every one.
  • Statements and the register
A per-customer statement and the full installment record register as an A4 PDF.
  • Urdu that prints correctly
PDFs use a Naskh typeface so Urdu text renders properly on paper.
  • Nothing is lost
Soft delete with reversal and a log of every change.
  • Works through connection drops
An offline page and cached app shell keep the screen usable when the internet blinks.
  • Automatic deployment
Updates go from Git to the shop's hosting through a build pipeline.

What changed

A customer's balance is now a number the staff can read off the screen, and a printed statement they can hand over. Agreements and receipts look the same as before, so customers noticed nothing except that the shop stopped making mistakes. The owner has a complete, searchable history of every sale and payment for the first time.

Delivery

The system deploys automatically from Git to the shop's hosting through a build pipeline, so updates do not depend on anyone uploading files by hand. The admin screens are in simple English with Roman-Urdu hints where staff needed them, and the shop was trained on its own customer data before going live.
